The groundbreaking Fund for Environment and Climate Change (FONERWA) is the engine for the next 50 years or so of green growth in Rwanda, while serving as a touchstone for Africa and the rest of the world.

Its strategy is to provide unheralded technical and financial support to the best public and private projects that align with Rwanda’s commitment to a green economy.

"FONERWA is a cross sectoral financing mechanism for environment and climate change initiatives that supplements Rwanda’s development objectives for environmentally sustainable, climate resilient and green economic growth,” says Alex Mulisa, coordinator of FONERWA.
