Like many African cultures, the Rwandan society emphasises and respects its cultural wear. Children should be raised in a manner that allows them to understand the importance of culture and love the elegance that this dress code brings to the person wearing it.

Many tourists say that one of the joys of visiting Rwanda is the sight of beautiful women and handsome men dressed in their traditional dresses called ‘Mishanana’.

Mishanana are worn on traditional and formal occasions. Parents should buy their children mishanana so that they can learn how to put it on.

Culture gives every person a sense of belonging and as proud citizens of a beautiful country mainly known for its thousand hills, we need to show how proud we are, about our good culture.

Although many people may be taken up by the western styles of clothing, in Africa, culture remains an important element of society. Even though changes may come from time to time, major unifying characteristics will always be cultural.

The Rwandan culture has also been maintained by emphasising "Kinyarwanda” as the local and national language, through growth of the basketry industry and general promotion of Rwandan music.
