Rayon Sports volleyball club right attacker Nelson Murangwa has turned his focus to the upcoming league game against APR on June 12 following his side’s success at retaining the Genocide Memorial Tournament (GMT) over the weekend.
Murangwa, who was named the Most Valuable Player at the just concluded Genocide Memorial Tournament warned his teammates that they have a lot of work ahead of the APR game on Friday before they take on INATEK on June 17.
"Our focus now is the league title. We are going to prepare well for the match and we want to win it and we are capable of doing so. Preparations mentally and physically will help us and because that is the reason we won GMT.”
"We (players) need to show that we can compete against the best teams so we need to be ready and try to get maximum points as we need this title,” he added.
Meanwhile, the spiker has hailed his teammates for their effort after beating APR 3-2 in the final to retain the GMT title.
"We did well because we gave our best as a team, and we are happy to achieve this, but this is just the first step for us. We will need to work hard in the league games,” said the former Groupe Scolaire de Butare player.
Murangwa added, "I am happy with the MVP award, but what is most important is that the team has been wonderful in this tournament. The whole team has been outstanding throughout and so this is a team award.”
Rayon Sports are leading the table with 35 points from 12 games, five points clear of the defending champions APR who have played 13 games so far and the former are six points ahead of INATEK who will be meeting over the weekend.
