When over one million Rwandans lost their lives during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi Grace Mukankusi was a mere eight years old. Twenty-one years on Mukankusi has become a well-known artist; using her talents to not only remember the family she lost but also to heal her emotional wounds.

In the Genocide’s aftermath, she, like many other orphans, underwent extreme difficulties; difficulties that she had refused to speak about on record before. However in this episode of the Survivor Series, the soft-spoken Mukakunsi, share her life story with The New Times.
