Mukura sack coach after one match

Atraco Fc new head coach Sam Timbe is impressed by his team’s scintillating start to the new league campaign.

The 2007/08 league champions hammered La Jeunesse 6-1 on Saturday to take control of the 2008/09 season.

Goals from Jean Lomami (2), Hamis Kitagenda, Robert Mugabe, Johnson Bagoole and Andre Lomami handed the new entrants a rude welcome to life in the topflight division.

Timbe told Times Sport yesterday, "It is good that we have won one game and that is over. We are now looking forward to the next fixture.”

"We have a good team and I think our performance (on Saturday) was superb. I hope we can take that kind of form into the next matches,” the Ugandan coach stated.

The former Police Fc (Uganda) coach was particularly impressed by his team’s supremacy over their adversary but reiterated, "I would be in position to clearly declare our superiority we when take on a bigger team.”

It was joy too for nine-time national league champions APR, who put three unanswered goals past another new league entrants Amagaju at Muhanga stadium on the same day.

Goals from new signings Bokota Labama (2) and Ismail Nshutinamagara were enough to earn the military side the routine points.

Another title hopeful Rayon Sport was held to a frustrating goalless draw by rivals Police at Mironko stadium on Sunday, meaning that they (Rayon) are already two points off the pace after round of matches.

Police, boosted by trio former Rayon players in Roger Tuyisenge, Cameroonian born Herve and skipper Yves Twajamahoro upset the four-time league champions in a match which that lacked fluidity because of the bumpy pitch.

Newly appointed skipper Jimmy Gatete wasted two good goal scoring chances for the Blues and his combination with new signings Theoneste Muhayimana and Alex Mubiru upfront failed to bear any fruits.

However, the opening weekend was a turning moment for Mukura coach Bernard Ndiki who was shown the exit after Mukura’s one-all draw against Electrogaz at Huye stadium.

Mukura has since replaced Ndiki with former tactician Rajab Bizimuremyi who once managed the Southern Province giants during the 2006/07 season.
