For a while now, I have heard numerous complains from women who are being beaten by the Local Defence Units (LDU’s). These women sell fruits on the roadsides.

I do not really understand what harm there is in selling fruits along the road in the evenings. These women are trying tooth and nail to earn a living which is already difficult considering that most of them are widows with a bunch of children to look after.

Besides, the women are offering an important service most people do not have the time to go to the market that closes at 5:00 pm to buy these fruits. Most importantly, we all need the vitamins in our bodies.
