AS Kigali began their Peace Cup campaign in supreme style when they thrashed second division side Pepiniere 7-0 on Saturday at Mumena stadium in Nyamirambo

Ernest Sugira and Ibrahim Itangishika each netted twice before Nova Bayama and Bodo Ndikumana added one apiece to guide Eric Nshimiyimana’s side to the last round of 16 and closer to the coveted trophy that comes with the honour of representing Rwanda in the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup.

Sugira, who is keen on achieving this status, has vowed to continue working hard alongside his teammates for a place in the final and a possible chance to add on silverware having earlier won the Ombudsman Cup in December.

"We are happy with the way we started this campaign and we want to maintain this spirit because ultimately, we want to win the Peace Cup because it presents us with a chance to compete in next year’s Confederation Cup and that is very important to us,” explained Sugira.

AS Kigali will meet the winner between Isonga and Unity who face off tomorrow at the Ferwafa Ground.

Meanwhile, Baby Miamy Mbakiye completed a hat-trick and added another goal as SC Kiyovu humiliated second division side Hope 11-0 on Sunday to qualify to the next round.

The reigning champions APR take on La Jeunesse on Thursday at Kicukiro Stadium as they begin their title defense while Rayon Sports will be up against Gasabo tomorrow at Kicukiro Stadium with the winner facing SEC Academy.

Police take on Sunrise while Kiyovu will be up against Sorwathe in the next round. Rusizi-based Espoir will be up against Vision Jeunesse while Musanze face Etincelles and Mukura take on Gicumbi with all the games taking place on June 17.
