Bank of Kigali was last week named the Best Bank in East Africa for its exceptional services and efforts to bring on board the unbanked.
The award was announced during the African Banker Awards, the most prestigious event in Africa’s banking and finance sector, held on the sidelines of the just concluded Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB) held in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
In a statement from the bank, the BK Chief Executive Officer, James Gatera, said the recognition was a great honour to the team he leads and attributed it to their commitment to exceed their customers’ expectations.
Bank of Kigali was recognised for its role in reaching out to new customers, offering new services, adopting inclusiveness by bringing the unbanked into the banking space and making use of new technologies thus contributing to a stronger financial sector.
"We are honored and excited to receive the award for Best Bank in East Africa; our commitment to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations through innovative products and services has been recognised and I sincerely appreciate our customers and shareholders for their loyalty,” he said.
He also thanked the staff members for their dedication which he said continues to shape the bank into a formidable player in the financial sector.
"We will endeavor to achieve excellence both at home and around the world,” he said.
