Title hopefuls Gisagara Volleyball Club finished the men’s league regular season at the top of the table ahead of APR VC after defeating defending champions REG 3-0 sets at Kimisagara Gymnasium on Saturday.
The pair came into the final phase game targeting a top finish so they could draw an easier opponent in the semifinal playoffs which take place in November.
Gisagara’s victory saw them drawn against Police VC who finished in the fourth position while a loss for REG saw them drop to third, hence setting a date with second-placed APR VC who finished the regular season in second place.

After Saturday’s victory, Gisagara head coach Lawrence Yakan Guma said, "we are delighted to reach the league playoffs this is a special moment for Gisagara volleyball club.”
"We have played very well in this stage, but there is still more hard work to do in the next matches," former national team captain added.
Meanwhile, REG coach Pierre Marshal Kwizera admitted his team will need to improve their performance before the playoffs begin.
"We are going to prepare for the finals the best way we can because it won’t be easy but I believe, given the way we have played the regular season, we can win the title. It is our target," Kwizera said.
"Overall, we haven&039;t played well where we failed to manage the game in crucial moments, but we will take the positives from these two games and plan for the future," he added.
In women’s category, APR lead charge with 32 points, three points clear of RRA while Police (23) and Ruhango (10), finished third and fourth respectively.
