Refer to Henry Settimba’s letter, "Explain more on ban of primary boarding section” (The New Times, May 27). I thank the author for sharing his opinion on the issue of boarding schools in Rwanda, but I beg to differ.

In Rwanda many boarding schools do not have capacity to manage a boarding school. That’s why you see children in boarding schools facing many problems like lack of food, lack of care in relation to what children get when they are with their parents at home.

What’s more, the owners of those schools are after money at all cost and discipline and good health of those children are not their concerns. There are other challenges facing boarding schools and I am convinced that the disadvantages, unfortunately, do outweigh the advantages.

Parents should remember that their children need to live with them in their formative years in order to get parental care, education and wisdom.
