Of course, there are advantages and disadvantages for boarding schools. But decision makers appear to have looked on the negative side only, perhaps due to the fact that there are a few boarding schools around.
However, this blanket policy ignores the fact that, for instance, boarding schools help learners grow up with a degree of independence rather being dependent on parents, especially from the decision making point of view.
If there are other reasons unknown to some of us then they should be aired out to the public for parents concerned to decide whether they wish to educate or not their children in boarding schools. Otherwise, it would appear as though decision makers treat the public as babies who cannot discern what is right and wrong for their children.
Other than that, the Ministry of Education needs to reconsider the issue for the interest of those parents and children who have compelling reasons to opt for boarding primary schools.
