A total of 25 local rugby coaches are currently undergoing a seven-day training course which started on Saturday at the SOS Children Village in Kacyiru.
The initiative is aimed at developing the game at the grassroots and increase the country’s chances of qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The training, which is organized by the Rwanda Rugby Federation (FRR) and funded by the Rwanda National Olympic and Sport Committee (RNOSC), is being conducted by Robert Bwali, a Ugandan international Rugby instructor.
The coaches who are from all over the country will acquire skills in managing and planning of training sessions, games, risks and expectations for the seven aside and fifteen aside version of the game.
Bwali said, "The coaches are making progress. Even their outlook on the game is changing.”Rwanda will host the Southern Africa Men pre-Qualifier Rwanda for the 2016 Rio Olympics in July 25-26.
