KICC defeated Indorwa by 38 runs to book a berth with the most decorated team in domestic cricket – Challengers who saw off Telugu in a three-wicket victory at the weekend.
KICC captain Hassan Zaki won the toss and opted to bat first, posting 148 runs in the allocated overs with Jashat Mehbub and Harish Patel scoring 39 and 33 runs respectively. Remarkable bowling and fielding by KICC restricted Indorwa to 111 runs in 17.4 overs all out. "We worked as a team and this has been key to our success and we hope to carry this form into the finals,” said the contented Zaki.
Meanwhile, Telugu batted first scoring 124 runs in 20 overs but a determined Challengers side chased the score and put on 129 runs in the allocated overs.
Challengers captain Srinath Vardhineni attributed the victory to team work, "I am grateful to my team mates because everyone did their best to get us to the finals.”
Telugu captain Shiva Samba admitted that his team did not do enough to win.
In the women’s category, Charity Cricket Club will face White Clouds in what is expected to be a tightly contested final.
Charity limited Queens of Victory to 54 runs in 11.4 overs all out and chased it down in 7.2 overs, not out with Cathia Uwamahoro and Diane Bimenyimana scoring 29 and 14 runs respectively.
White Clouds defeated FAWE Girls CC by nine wickets after limiting the high school side to 45 runs in the allocated overs with Veronica Iriho and Flora Irakoze posting 16 and 13 runs respectively to win it for the former.
