Atraco and APR kept to their billing yesterday when they won their national football league opening games with big wins.

Atraco took over the leadership of the league table thanks to a 6-1 thumping of newcomer La Jeunesse at Shorongyi grounds while APR gave a football lesson to league debutant Amagaju 3-0 in Muhanga.

Goals by Jean Lomami (2), Robert Mugabe, Hamis Kitagenda, Johnson Bagoole and forgotten man Andre Lomami did justice to the 2007/08 second division team.

Timbe’s side dominated the game throughout and Uganda’s Johnson Bagoole justified his transfer price tag by pulling the strings in the middle of the pack giving Sam Timbe a winning start to his Rwandan league career.

Mohamed Ndikumana pulled one back for the youths but the damage had already been done by the taxi-men.

In Muhanga nine time league champions APR defeated league debutants Amagaju 3-0 to give coach Rene Feller a winning start.

The 2007 SMS Best player Labama Bokota Kamana scored a brace for the military side before newly signed defender Ismail Nshutinamagara notched his debutant goal against the Gikongoro- club.

Rwanda’s oldest league club SC Kiyovu suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat to Northern Province club Marines at Mumena stadium.
The lone goal of the game was scored by Jimmy Mbaraga on the 14th minute of the game.

In Butare, Mukura failed to impress at their home ground to play to a one-all draw against visitors Electrogaz. League action resumes today with as Rayon Sport hosing Police at Mironko stadium.

The main attraction will be skipper Jimmy Gatete’s quest to get a national nod yet again after his impressive preseason showing. In another fixture set for this afternoon, AS Kigali will be entertaining Kibuye at Mumena stadium.
