Editor,

Frankly, the Government has taken a wonderful decision by banning boarding for primary schools.

When I was young, we used to walk long distances both from our villages to our primary schools every day. Yet our school performances were not quite poor.

We started going to boarding schools in secondary school.

By this time we were mature enough and it was not long before we acquitted ourselves with the new environment.

This way there are no major concerns about security, parental guidance and upbringing of children.

This a great education policy change headed in the right direction - Boarding/residential schools have for long contributed to denying kids the ability to learn community values yet this is necessary in the world we live in today! Education doesn’t happen in schools alone, we know that a home is best classroom every student should go through to enhance their learning experience. Bravo Rwanda this is a smart policy direction taken!
