The Rwanda Taekwondo Federation (RTF) has received a donation of equipment worth Rwf20 million from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. The handover ceremony took place in Kigali.

The donated equipment includes uniforms, chest guards, arm guards, chin guards, helmets, and mats.
Amb Jeong Woo Jin, the Korean envoy in Rwanda, expressed his pleasure in supporting the growth of Taekwondo in the country and laid emphasis on the continued partnership between the Korean Embassy, the Kukkiwon Office (World Taekwondo Headquarters), and the Federation to achieve their common goal.
"We are always thrilled to see the Taekwondo game shining, which is why we are providing this equipment to the federation. This is not our first time supporting them, and it certainly won&039;t be the last. We will continue to collaborate closely with the Kukkiwon Office and the Federation to achieve our shared objective," said Amb. Jeong.
Rwego Ngarambe, the Director General in charge of Sports Development at the Ministry of Sports, expressed gratitude to the Korean Embassy for their unwavering support in promoting Taekwondo and sports development in Rwanda.
He said: "We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Korean Embassy for their unwavering dedication in supporting the growth and development of Taekwondo and sports in Rwanda. They have consistently been excellent partners, and we eagerly anticipate continuing this strong and positive relationship."
The RTF Secretary-General, Boniface Mbonigaba, said: "The equipment will greatly help RTF member clubs. We highly appreciate the Korean Embassy for the continued strong partnership in the progress of Taekwondo in Rwanda.
"Taekwondo is one of the sports disciplines that do well in Rwanda. We are confident this new equipment will have a positive impact on the performance of clubs and national teams.”
Taekwondo was officially recognized as one of the national sports in Rwanda by the Ministry of Sports in 2010.
