AS Muhanga are keen on an away victory over former rivals Espérance when the two sides square off this afternoon in a pool B league encounter at Kimisagara grounds.
Felix Mbonyizana’s Muhanga are third-placed in pool B with 36 points and just need three points out of a possible nine to qualify for the knock-out stages with hopes of returning to the topflight while Espérance are in fifth position with 28 points, 7 points behind fourth-placed Rwamagana.
"We want victory tomorrow, a win would see us book a slot in the knock outs and that’s what we will be out to get. My players are all fit and mentally well prepared for the challenge,” Mbonyizana said.
Elsewhere in pool B, table leaders and first runners-up Bugesera and Sorwathe who have already qualified for knock-out stages face Interforce at FERWAFA turf and Miroplast at Mironko plastic industries respectively.
In pool A, table toppers La Jeunesse play SEC Academy at Mumena stadium, Cox Muleyi’s Pépinière travel to Etoile de l’Est, ASPOR will be up against Vision FC, Ndera-based Heroes FC take on Gitikinyoni while Gatsibo-based Hope FC host second-placed Nyagatare respectively
As it stands in pool A, La Jeunesse lead with 38 points, two ahead of Nyagatare, United Stars are third with 33 points while ASPOR and Heroes FC come in fourth and fifth-place with 32 points respectively.
