Luxemburg based duo of midfielder Sven Kalisa and striker Glen Habimana are pleased with their maiden Rwanda national team call up.

Habimana, 20, was born to Rwandan parents in Belgium and is yet to be capped by any national team at any level whereas Kalisa has already played for Luxembourg at U-17 and 21 levels respectively. He revealed his intention to feature for Rwanda last year.

Kalisa, who plies his trade with Etzella Ettelbruck stressed that he is glad for the call up and now it is up to him to prove himself.

"I am happy that my dream to play for Rwanda at senior level has come true. Now it&039;s on me to prove myself." Kalisa told Times Sport.

"I have watched the Amavubi a couple of times and I think I can also contribute my quota. There is certainly something good I can offer."

On his part, Habimana who also features for FC Victoria Rosport in the Luxembourg premier division indicated that he is happy with the invitation to play for the country of his parents and he will give his best.

"I am very excited to be called for the national team for the games against Equatorial Guinea and Morocco. It's really a good feeling to play for the country where my parents grew up." Habimana told Times Sport

"First of all, I want to show what I can do to the coach and other people in the country and elsewhere. I have trained well and I will connect well with my teammates."

"When I get minutes to play, I will give everything that I have for the team to excel."

Habimana who is one of the best young players in the Luxembourg league having moved there in the just ended transfer window.

"I have never been to Rwanda, only my parents and sisters have been there but of course, I really want to go there." He added.

Habimana started his career with Breda before moving to Lierse SK and subsequently to Furstenwade in the German Oberliga. He joined Victoria Rosport in Luxembourg in August 2022.

Kalisa and Habimana arrived at the Amavubi camp in Morocco on Monday.
