A watch is a statement piece accessory that spells elegance; it can speak volumes about one’s finesse, class and style without words. For a woman who indeed wants a classic and timeless look, a watch is your perfect must have accessory.

Joel Nkurikiyimpfura, a fashion designer in Kanombe, says that women nowadays are into watches more than any other piece of jewelry. "A woman depicts class when she completes her outfit with a watch, and her best comes out if she knows how to solicit out the best designer piece,’ he says.

Nkurikiyimpfura says that what he likes about women, they don’t mind spending a fortune on something that they like, adding that women come to them and buy watches of any price ranging from Rwf30,000 and above.

Lillian Uwera, 23, says that to her an outfit is incomplete without a designer watch.

"My favourite are the trending chain watches, they look elegant and make one look confident since they stand out a lot due to the fact they have that masculine look,” Uwera says.

John Kalisa, a boutique vendor in Kacyiru, says watches have become more than a means to tell time.

He says that wearing a watch has become so fabulous that it not only adds sparkle to one’s outfit but also makes them stand out of the crowd. "I can totally credit a lady who has a fantastic sense of fashion which in most cases is depicted with her accessories, she really seems fashionable and attractive,” Kalisa explains.

Hussein Nazakat, the manager of Watchoice at Kigali City Tower, describes a watch as a small timepiece device worn by a person so as to tell time quickly and conveniently.

He explains that one can make a choice depending on what they prefer, for instance one can go for a leather strap or chain due to many factors like a fashion preference or even allergy conditions to a particular material.

For the prices, Hussein says that it depends on where one purchases the item from. "These days watches are so fashionable in Rwanda, most people prefer wearing them not as a means of telling time specifically but also as a trend,” he adds.

Few must have watches for women

Trendy women can turn heads anywhere. Unfortunately, majority of them don’t see much importance when it comes to fashionable watches; instead they spend money buying accessories with little or no idea the latest trend.
