Remera Buffaloes on Sunday afternoon showed they are still the kings of local rugby after defeating Thousands 17-10 to win their 5th rugby league trophy.
Thousand Hills’ lack of experience and nerves are to blame as they failed to take the game from a Buffaloes side who had five players off for ten minutes on yellow cards and three red carded during the course of the game.
Scrum half Patrick Ikorukwishaka stole the first try by grounding the ball when the Buffaloes drove Thousand Hills back into their try area after a scrum-down.
The first half ended with Buffaloes leading 7-3 and they continued their fine form in the second half with Benjamin Makombe scoring after picking from a line out while Vincent Kamali beat the Thousand Hills defense to finish off an impressive run by Ikorukwishaka.
One conversion out of three by kicker Lucien Ismael Bikamba sealed the win for Buffaloes.
Anthony Lambert stole a try for Thousand Hills while Carlos Isimbi made a conversion but only scored one in 3 penalties and also missed a drop goal .
Vincent Kamali, the Buffaloes captain said he was happy to win a 5th rugby title, the first time that any club has done that.
