Fortified foods or GMOs?

Editor,

Refer to the story, "Making fortified foods more accessible” (The New Times, May 6). Another shameful way of promoting GMOs (genetically modified organisms), now sold as a panacea for chronically malnourished Africans.

The number of Trojan horses that we have seen being paraded just outside our walls—all purporting to be free gifts just for our own good—is mind-boggling!

Beware indeed, and remember: our loss of sovereignty and wholesale enslavement through the Scramble for Africa was similarly sold through false advertising as a project to civilise us and to protect us from Arab slavers.

But as it turned out all our would-be civilisers really wanted were our lands, natural resources and our forced labour.

Once bitten twice shy.
