National women beach volleyball players Charlotte Nzayisenga and Denyse Mutatsimpundu yesterday qualified for the All Africa Games after winning the Zone V Beach volleyball Championships in Nairobi.
Rwanda won two games and lost one in the 4 day competition. The Beach duo saw off African giants Egypt two sets to nil ( 21-17 and 21-19) and were also too powerful for Tanzania after thrashing them 2-0 (21-5 and 21-4).
The National team’s only loss was against Kenya 2 - 0 (21-17, 21-14). It was only Rwanda that lost once in the event that was a qualifier for the All Africa games slated for Congo-Brazzaville in September.
"We are happy because we managed to win many games but we lost to Kenya who were more experienced than us and also enjoyed home advantage,” Nzayisenga said in a telephone interview.
