Second division football championship giants Sorwathe FC once again showed their credentials for topflight league football with a brilliant performance, thrashing Kirehe in a 3-0 thriller at Kinihira playgrounds.

The win saw Rulindo-based Sorwathe go top of pool B with 34 points, three ahead of Bugesera FC. Evode Irakiza and Benoit Kamuhanda scored the goals for Eastern province side.

In an interview with Times Sport , Sorwathe Coach Jean Jacques Muteba said he has challenged his players to finish the season unbeaten.

"We have been doing well since the start of the season, we are the only side yet to lose a match in the second division league. Our major target this season is promotion to topflight league, that’s why we can’t afford any mistakes,” Muteba said.

Elsewhere in pool B, Felix Mbonyizana’s Muhanga was held to 0-0 draw by Rwamagana.

Unity routed Interforce 3-0, Miroplast held Esperance to a 1-1 draw while Golden Generation defeated Intare 1-0.

In pool A, Gatsibo-based Hope academy held table leaders La Jeunesse on a 1-1 draw, Aspor and Sec Academy drew 1-l, Ndera-based Heroes beat Gasabo 1-0 while Vision Jeunesse beat Vision 2-1.

La Jeunesse still stand top of Pool A with 30 points, three of ahead of Nyagatare FC.
