APR 2-0 Amagaju Rayon Sports 1-0 AS Kigali

APR yesterday made a giant step towards retaining the league title after defeating Amagaju 2-0 at Kicukiro stadium.

The army side failed to break down the resolute Amagaju defence in the first half but second half goals from Fiston Nkezingabo and Micheal Ndahinduka were enough to give APR a 3 point lead at the top of the league table.

APR which has a game in hand now need two more wins and a draw in their remaining 4 games to win a record 15th league trophy in 20 years.

Second place AS Kigali’s hopes of a first league title was dented by a rejuvenated Rayon Sports side after a 1-0 defeat in Muhanga. The Blues now move into 4th place with 33 points and still have a game in hand.

Kayiranga’s magic hand

Rayon Sports’ return to form coincided with the hiring of former coach Baptiste Kayiranga who re-joined the club this month.

Tasked with guiding the club to a top 3 finish and also win the Peace Cup, Kayiranga is on course to achieve that after winning his first two league games in charge especially against AS Kigali which has been in good form all season.
