As the Moslem community celebrated the end of fasting, business in Kigali City and its suburbs was low. A mini survey carried out by The New Times found that the few businesses that remained open were not attracting many customers.

Most banks were closed. Ecobank and Rwanda Commercial Bank branches that remained open also had few customers entering for services.

At Ndoli Supermarket in Gisementi, Remera customers were just trickling at intervals. While in Kimironko market, very few market vendors worked.

Francine Uwase, a fruits seller lamented that the sales were very low compared to other days.

Crystal Supermarket in Kacyiru was not busy. Attendant said most of their customers are office worker who did not work yesterday.

Kigali business centre, which is always a beehive of activities, surprisingly was quiet. It is only Muhima that had a few hardware shops open but people were not buying.

Nyamirambo, a highly populated area with a big number of Muslims also looked dull.

Pierre Ngabonziza, a shop attendant in the area said it is only people selling soft drinks like sodas and water were in business.

Howeverin Kimisagara and Nyabugogo vehicles and pedestrians jammed all roads.
