According to the local volleyball federation’s Secretary General, Christian Hatuminana, the top four teams in men and women categories will be joined by invited teams from Burundi, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and DR Congo.
Current league table leaders Rayon Sports, second-placed INATEK, APR in third place and fourth-placed Kigali Volleyball Club will compete in the men’s category, while the women’s league will be represented by Rwanda Revenue Authority, Ruhango, St Alloys and former league champions APR.
During the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi, the Volleyball Federation lost over 50 members including players, coaches, and administrators.
The Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Education of Kibungo (INATEK) defeat APR 3-0 in the final to win the men’s title last year, while in women category, seven-time African champions, Kenya Pipeline beat Rwanda Revenue Authority 3-0 to be crowned champions.
