Ndayisaba Fabrice Foundation (NFF), an umbrella body of over 150 youth football players, on Wednesday afternoon visited the Nyanza Memorial Site in Kicukiro District as part of the 21st Genocide commemoration activities.

The Kicukiro-based football academy was started in September 2009 by Fabrice Ndayisaba to help children that lost parents during the genocide get off the streets and be able to play football.

The Academy has grown from the initial 27 beneficiaries to 150 today.

The visit to Nyanza Memorial Center was preceded by a ‘Walk To Remember’ march from IPRC-Kigali to the memorial site, where they laid wreaths on graves, after a one-minute moment of silence, a prayer and various messages from members of the foundation.

Among those in the delegation were local singers like Patrick Nyamitari, Mani Martin as well as current Miss Rwanda Doriane Kundwa.

In an interview with Saturday Sport, Ndayisaba thanked different people who tuned up to join the foundation in honoring the victims of the Genocide.

"The event was very successful, children turned up in big numbers and this shows how well the young generation has been educated about the evils of Genocide. The future is good for these young children,” said the 20-year-old Ndayisaba.

He also revealed that next on the agenda is the annual youth football memorial tournament scheduled for early June at IPRC- Kigali grounds and Kicukiro stadium respectively.
