Mukunzi has been ruled out of the upcoming CAVB Zone V tournament slated for May 1-6 in Kigali following an operation on his right wrist, and his place on the team could be taken by either Nelson Murangwa, Olivier Ntagengwa or Patrick Kavalo.
"I have been told that I may be out for three months or slightly more, but I’ll be ok and hope to come back a stronger player. Hopefully by end of June, I will be ready for the competitions,” the 27-year-old noted.
On Sunday, the national team entered residential camp in Huye and in mid of April will travel to Tunisia for the friendly games as part of preparations for Zone V.
Rwanda host Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in Zone V Group One from May 1-6, a competition that will serve as the 2015 All Africa Games qualifiers which will be held in Congo Brazzaville from September 4 to 19.
