I recently had to avert mob justice by calling the police to intervene. Mob justice is not only primitive but also ugly. But the reason as to why people opt for it, is that the police handle thieves with kids gloves.

For a thief to be tried in formal courts of law, he/she must have stolen something worth more than one million. Otherwise, it is the local courts (Abunzi) to do the trial. This has made petty criminals comfortable.

That is why the people sometimes take the law in their hands and beat them to death. To check this problem, thieves should be dealt with accordingly. This will stop mob justice for the last time.
