Rayon Sports head coach Jean-Baptiste Kayiranga has acknowledged that his team will need to produce their best performance of the season if they are to eliminate Egyptian side Zamalek in the Caf Confederation Cup first round second leg today at Amahoro stadium.

However, the former Amavubi Star and Rayon Sports player, who has returned to Rayon Sports for a third time as coach until the end of the season, believes that his side has what it takes to see off the Egyptian giants.

"The match will be tight, everyone will come for a win and we know we will have tough game against this good team but we will come to the field with purpose of scoring more than one goal,” Kayiranga told Sunday Sport in an exclusive interview on Friday.

He added, "We made it difficult for ourselves because we lost for three goals which are too much but it is possible because we have prepared to score two goals and look to make history.”

"I think for us it is a must to win this game but we have to perform better than we have probably done all season, we have worked on shooting and I know if can be able to that, we will have the chance of winning the game,”

"We have had week of preparations, and I have told players that they must to show what they are capable, they have to make history and win this game, the history can repeat itself because Zamalek lost here (in Champions League against APR in 2004) and it can happen again,” he explained optimistically. Jesualdo Ferreira’s Zamalek brushed aside their Rayon Sports 3-1 with Ahmed Eid scoring a brace and Ahmed Tawfik netting the third before Isaac Muganza got a vital away goal for the Rwandan team—Rayon also missed penalty through James Tubane.

Zamalek jetted in Kigali on Friday morning but coach Ferreira believes the Egyptian side were not yet at their best in first leg but warmed that they have come to Rwanda to win.

He says: "We did not play well in first leg but this time we have to play the best match and get victory. We will play in here (in Rwanda) to win.”

Rayon Sports will be looking to avoid complacency as displayed in last year’s Caf Champions League preliminary round when they held Democratic Republic of Congo’s AC Leopards to a goalless draw away, led 2-0 at home in the second half but conceded two late goals in five minutes leading up to their eventual elimination.
