Youngster Haleluya wins Kivu cycling race

Amis Sportifs Rwamagana rider Joseph Haleluya has won the Kivu cycling Race after covering the 138 kilometres race in 3 hours, 47 minutes and 49 seconds on Saturday.

Amis Sportifs Rwamagana rider Joseph Haleluya has won the Kivu cycling Race after covering the 138 kilometres race in 3 hours, 47 minutes and 49 seconds on Saturday.

Haleluya also won the best young rider and went home with Rwf100, 000 for winning the race plus Rwf60, 000 for emerging victorious in the U-23 category. Benediction Club riders Nathan Byukusenge and Claude ‘Camera’ Hakuzimana came in second and third positions after clocking 3hrs, 47 minutes and 49 seconds and 3h47 minutes and 59 seconds respectively.

Bonaventure Uwizeyimana, also of Benediction Club, came on fourth position with time of 3hrs, 52 minutes and 13 seconds while reigning Tour du Rwanda champion Valens Ndayisenga of Amis Sportif came on fifth position in a time of 3hrs, 52 minutes and 13 seconds.

However, Benediction Club’s two top riders, Hadi Janvier and Jean Bosco Nsengimana withdrew from the race with 73km to go.

The Kivu race is the first of ten races that will comprise the ‘Rwanda Cycling Cup’, which is organized by the Rwanda Cycling Federation. The Kivu Race started in Muhanga and ended in Rubavu.
