The National Men’s Volleyball team will enter residential camp this Sunday in Huye District ahead of the upcoming African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Zone V tournament slated for May 1-6 in Kigali.
Paul Bitok’s side will start training twice a day at University of Rwanda’s College of Arts and Social Sciences at Huye Campus from this Sunday.
The team is expected to travel to Tunisia in middle April for friendly games as part of the preparations of Zone V volleyball tournament.
"We are trying to make sure that we have the strongest team available because we have to win Zone 5 and qualify for All Africa games. For us to achieve that, we shall leave no stone unturned in training,” Bitok said
Rwanda will host the Zone V Group One event in May which will feature teams like Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. It will serve as the qualifier for the 2015 All Africa Games to be held in Congo Brazzaville from September 4 to 19.
Meanwhile Rwanda will miss the services of Captain Christophe Mukunzi who injured his right wrist recently and is out for three months.
Assistant captain Lawrence Guma Yakan, who is recuperating from a knee injury is expected to be fit in time for the tournament.
