RRA face Carthage in quarters at African Championships

RWANDA Revenue Authority (RRA) face their Tunisian counterparts, Carthage this afternoon in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 25th Women’s African Volleyball Club Championships in Cairo, Egypt.

RWANDARevenue Authority (RRA) face their Tunisian counterparts, Carthage this afternoon in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 25th Women’s African Volleyball Club Championships in Cairo, Egypt.

Jean Luc Ndayikengurukiye’s teams qualified for the last eight as first runners-up in Pool A behind Shams of Egypt while Carthage finished top of Pool D.

RRA had a rough start at the continental championships last Friday, losing to hosts, Shams 3-0 but recovered well on Saturday to beat Senegal’s Saltigue 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-14).

Attacker Serphine Mukantambara was the game’s highest scorer with impressive 20 points while Sow Binetou led Saltigue’s charge with 9 points.

In other quarter-final encounters, defending champions GSP Alger face seven-time Kenyan champions Pipelines, Shams take on Vision of Uganda while six-time champions and co-hosts, Al Ahly, will be up against FAP from Cameroun.

The Semi-finals are scheduled for Wednesday at 6 October Hall in Cairo.
