Bakri, a Saudi Arabian company has been contracted to supplying jet fuel at Kigali International Airport after Caltex stepped out of the business few months ago.
Eng. Albert Butare, State minister for energy said Caltex’s contract had ended. Operators at the airport are upbeat about Bakri.
"I think they have more capacity than Caltex because I always see a fuel truck packed and people can access fuel anytime, a source in the aviation industry said.
Caltex is a petroleum brand name of Chevron Corporation used in more than 60 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, and southern Africa.
Caltex leaves Rwanda at a time Kobil is heavily investing in Rwanda, as part of its regional expansion.
