Newly appointed Rayon Sports head coach Jean Baptiste Kayiranga is determined to turn around the fortunes of the Nyanza-based side that has succumbed to various setbacks in a forgettable season.

Kayiranga who has returned to the Blues’ camp for a third time as head coach has admitted that it is impossible to challenge for the title this season as Rayon Sports lies in seventh position with 27 points, 14 points behind table leaders and archrivals APR.

However, his immediate target is to try to overturn the 3-1 deficit against Zamalek in the Caf Confederations Cup this weekend as well as make sure the Blues bag all the available 15 points on offer in the league with five games to the end of the season.

"It will not be easy to eliminate Zamalek but we are at home and would like to use that to our advantage,” explained the optimistic Kayiranga.

Kayiranga is expected to conduct his first training session today in Nyanza and will be joined later in the week by goalkeeper Jean Luc Ndayishimiye who has been on national team duty with the Amavubi.

The former Amavubi and Rayon Sports player told Times Sport that, "My long term plan is to sign several young Rwandan players and mould them into great players. This will help us lay a good foundation for our side.”

Kayiranga admitted that Rayon Sports’ only chance at silverware this season is the Peace Cup that is slated to start in June. Victory will once again see the Blues book a berth in the Caf Confederations Cup next year.
