Amavubi new head coach Johnny McKinstry will be hoping to get off to a winning start in his first game in charge of the national side when they meet Zambia in an international friendly this afternoon at the National Heroes stadium in Lusaka.

The 29-year old Irishman, who has been in charge for less than a week revealed that he is keen on solving the ever present problem that has been scoring goals.

"We are going to try and position the strikers and midfielders in positions where they have more scoring options. I have watched the videos of recent games especially the one against Morocco and I noticed that the players defended really well but did not have so many scoring chances,” explained McKinstry.

In the three friendly matches played after Ferwafa banned naturalized players, the Amavubi and U-23 sides which are relatively the same players, only Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza netted against the Tanzania U-23 in Mwanza in January.

Amavubi held Morocco to a goalless draw while the U-23 also failed to score against the Burundi U-23 in a friendly in Kigali last December. It is against this background that McKinstry wants to introduce change.

The forward line up of strikers Bertrand Iradukunda, debutant Isaie Songa and midfielders Jean Claude Iranzi, captain Haruna Niyonzima and Yannick Mukunzi are expected to launch the attacking football McKinstry wants to see in the long run.

Amavubi probable starting team:

Eric ‘Bakame’ Ndayishimiye, Michel Rushengoga, Emery Bayisenge, Ismeal Nshutiyamagara, James Tubane, Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza, Yannick Mukunzi, Haruna Niyonzima, Bertrand Iradukunda, Isaie Isonga, Jean Claude Iranzi.
