What is your style?

Mike Karangwa

I like being creative, if it’s a gala night I will wear a suit and tie or Kitenge. I change according to the occasion, even with Showbiz events. I also try to be relevant because times keep changing.

Do you have a designer?

Yes, I have a friend I have known for many years. He is not exactly a designer but he’s a dealer in clothes and knows what I want. When I need suits I work with Francis Zahabu or Ian Boutique.

What kind of accessories work for you?

I have many watches. I don’t know why I like watches but when you wear a good one, it puts you in a different class. People will hold you with high regard.

What do you think about Primus GumaGuma contestants’ attire?

They all dress well; artists have learnt to invest in buying or hiring clothes to look the part. Whether it’s a hip hop or RnB artiste, they nail the fashion bit.

What outfit can’t you resist?

A good pair of Adidas sneakers. Even if it means starving, I will get them. Adidas has great footwear.

What’s your fashion weakness?

Sometimes I find it difficult to choose what to wear. I have many clothes in my wardrobe;I get confused and take a while to make up my mind.

What trends should people stay away from?

Don’t mix styles;some things are better left as they are.

Any fashion advice?

People think that fashion is about having a big budget, or designers like Gucci and Louis Vuitton, but it isn’t. A person can be smart and classy in affordable clothes. Being smart is about knowing your skin colour and the colours that complement it,knowing your size, and dressing it right. Don’t be predictable; people shouldn’t know you for one style only- like jeans and t-shirts.
