Muvunyi wins Gold at Grand Prix de Tunis

Hermas Cliff Muvunyi won a gold medal in the 800m category of the 9th Tunis International Meeting in Tunisia on Monday afternoon.

It is the second gold medal that the 27-year- old Paralympics runner has won in his career having first won gold in the All Africa games in 2012.

Muvunyi, who won silver in the Men’s All Africa games 400m category in 2012 will also be looking to go one step better and scoop gold in the same category this afternoon.

Sprint runner Jean Claude Ndayisenga who is making his maiden appearance in the 200m category at the IPC Athletics Grand Prix meet finished 7th.

On Tuesday (yesterday), Ndayisenga had a day off while Muvunyi was due to compete in the Men’s 1500m category but by press time, results had not been released.

Today both athletes will be in action with Ndayisenga chasing for a medal in the 100m category while Muvunyi will battle for a podium finish in the 400m fray.

The three-day prestigious event started on Monday and is set to climax today.
