The head of the European Union Delegation to Rwanda, Ambassador Michael Ryan, has promised to link the University of Kigali with various European universities.

The envoy was speaking to students and lecturers during a visit to the university last week.

He said establishing partnership will help promote students exchange programmes with European universities.

"The European Union, as a partner of the University of Kigali, will help students apply for more scholarship opportunities in Europe like they currently do every two years,” Amb. Ryan said.

He pledged to offer a contact line that students will use to apply for the scholarships.

"I would like the university leaders to know the contact line and the requirements one needs to apply. We have French and Swedish scholarships programme for Rwanda,” the envoy said.

The University vice-chancellor, Prof. Dr Siraje Kaaya, said the varsity plans to move to its own premises before the end of the year.

Prof. Manasseh Nshuti, the Chairman Board of the University of Kigali, affirmed their commitment to providing quality education.

The University of Kigali has a total enrolment of 2006 students. It started operations in October 2013.
