Hundreds of residents of Kirehe District welcomed the Mobile Police Station Vehicle as it continued its mission to deliver Rwanda National Police (RNP) services to residents across the country.

The station vehicle which is on a three-day tour of the district has attended to over 500 residents from Ruburizi and Musaza sectors, particularly those residing in areas far away from Police stations.

Most of the complaints presented centered on land wrangles, gender-based violence, assault, family neglect and inheritance.

Police listened to all the complaints and forwarded them to relevant institutions charged with solving them.

Shantari Uwimana, a resident of Musaza Sector, commended RNP for initiating the Mobile Police Station Vehicle, which she said has helped address the concerns of residents.

"For a whole year, I never thought I would get justice. My neighbour claims ownership of my land and has threatened me on several occasions. The Police station is far away and I had been unable to go there and report the case,” she said.

During the event, residents were sensitized about Police initiatives aimed at fostering peace, law and order, and were urged to cooperate with the Police through community policing.

"Criminals must not find any safehaven in Rwanda,” said Senior Superintendent Urbain Mwiseneza, Director of anti-Narcotic Unit in the Criminal Investigations Department.

RNP partners with the ministries of Justice, and Local Government and Social Affairs so that all the complaints received by the Police Mobile Station Vehicle can receive adequate attention.

Ever since it was launched in Kamonyi District in January, the Mobile Police Station Vehicle service has received and documented close to 1,000 cases.
