RUSIZI — Over 100 teachers drawn from various secondary schools in the Western Province have undergone training in examination setting and answering techniques.

The two-day workshop that ended last week, aimed at equipping teachers with skills to enable students to pass national exams.

Held at Centre Pastoral Incuti in Kamembe, the event was organised by National Examination Council (NEC). It attracted teachers from Karongi, Nyamasheke and Rusizi Districts teaching science subjects in Senior Three.

David Karenzi, a NEC official who was among the trainers said teachers should encourage students to avoid fidgeting during the last days to exams.

"I urge you as science teachers in candidate classes to always encourage students to read hard and to also go through past papers in order for them to pass the national examinations,” Karenzi said.

He also called upon teachers to encourage more students to do science subjects like Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

The teachers who attended the seminar thanked NEC for organising the workshop and called upon it to organise similar training in other districts across the country.
