EASTERN PROVINCE

Nyagatare—In a bid to boost clientele in the country, the Commercial Bank of Rwanda (BCR) has embarked on a mobile-banking campaign to acquire new clients in Nyagatare District.

According to BCR staff Tongo Karahamuheto, the bank plans to establish a branch in the district, as well as a mobile centre.

"If this campaign goes successfully we are planning to establish a branch in Nyagatare town as already Rwamagana town has got one. Promotion is targeting the whole Eastern Province,” Karahamuheto said.

The BCR mobile bank has gone as far as Kirehe district at Rusumo, by the Rwanda-Tanzania border. "We have clients there and whenever they have bulk of money sensing insecurity they just give us a telephone call and immediately the mobile bank picks it up,” he said.
