AK47, a Ugandan dancehall musician and younger brother to singer Joseph Mayanja aka Chameleone reportedly died on Monday night at Nsambya hospital after falling in a bathtub.
According to his manager, Robert Nkuke, the deceased was found bleeding in bathtub at around 8pm and rushed to Nsambya Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
His body has been taken to Mulago Hospital for a post-mortem after which it will be taken to National theatre for viewing.
The singer from a musical family that comprises of three other prominent singing brothers namely Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone, Pius Mayanja aka Pallaso and Douglas Mayanja aka Weasle was pronounced dead shortly after his friends helped drop him at Nsambya hospital last night.
According to fellow singer Diamond Oscar who was with the deceased at Dejavu, a pub in Kansanga, AK47 died after falling in the bathrooms of the pub where he had gone to ease himself. "We were called by one of the bouncers who told us that our friend had fallen and collapsed in the wash rooms. We thought he had just collapsed, so we got off our shirts and started waving so that he could get some fresh air," Oscar said.
Oscar further said that a few minutes later, The youngest Mayanja was not responding at all and he was bleeding from the nose and the mouth; "a patron advised us to rush him to a nearby clinic.
When we arrived at Rock pharmacy, the pharmacist advised us to rush the patient to Nsambya Hospital for xray and oxygen. The manager of Dejavu helped drive my car to Nsambya hospital. But all through the journey, I kept calling AK and asking him to say something, but he didn't. He was bleeding and he had foam coming from his mouth," Oscar added.
Oscar further told us that on arrival at Nsambya Hospital, the doctor tried to check AK Forty-seven's pulse; "the doctor asked us to excuse ourselves out of the room and when he came out about five minutes later, he told us AK was gone. It was about 9:45pm."
AK Fortyseven was attached to Team No Sleep music crew that was formed by Radio & Weasle's breakaway manager Jeff Kiwanuka.
Other reports indicate that the fallen singer is survived by three children including a set of twins that are yet to turn six months of age.
AK Forty-seven dropped out of school after completing his senior six and at twenty three years of age, he was one of the fastest growing dancehall musicians.
Fans and fellow musicians thronged Nsambya Hospital till the wee hours of the night.
