Zamalek head coach Jesualdo Ferreira has acknowledged that his team still have more work to do ahead of their second leg match against Rwandan club, Rayon Sport in the Caf Confederation Cup.

Zamalek brushed aside Rayon 3-1 with Ahmed Eid scoring a brace of goals and Ahmed Tawfik netting the third before Issac Moganza got a vital away goal for the Rwandan club in the first leg in El Gounah on Sunday.

But Ferreira, who took charge of Zamalek, just over a month ago, believes the Egyptian club are still not at their best especially in the absence of no league action in the country following its suspension.

"I took the charge of the team around 40 days ago, and it’s not easy for any coach to make or change a team in the space of those days. We still need more work especially as we don’t have domestic league in progress. We will work hard in the next days before the next match,” Ferreira said.

The Giza-based team will play the second leg in Rwanda on April 5 and the Zamalek trainer has already pointed out one of the flaws in his team’s performance despite their 3-1 win.

"In the second half we were back defending because we were fatigued. This is the first match for the team since February 8, but in generally, I am satisfied,” he said.

Zamalek have not been involved in matches since the Air Defense Stadium disaster that left 22 fans dead before their Premier League match against ENPPI SC.

But the team director Ismail Yousef says that the win against Rayon Sport was very necessary.

"We did not play the best match but we needed this victory. We will play in Rwanda to win,” Yousef said.
