Editor,
This letter is with reference to the article, "You stand on the threshold of real life, KIM graduates told” (The New Times, March 14).
Kudos to Kigali Institute of Management (KIM) Chancellor, Prof. Sewe Mutsotso; KIM Board chair, Peter Rutaremara, the entire KIM Fraternity and of course the 178 students who graduated with various degrees in accounting, banking and finance at the institution’s fourth graduation ceremony.
As Peter Rutaremara, rightly remarked, the graduates stand at the threshold of ‘real life’ when all the knowledge and skills they have acquired will be tested in today’s highly demanding and challenging world.
With our keen desire to support outstanding Rwandan youth, we would like to invite the two best students, Agatha Kwarikunda and Justin Mbera, mentioned in the article, to undergo an internship here in India with leading multinational organisations.
The Indian Merchants’ Chamber (IMC) is a Premier Chamber of Commerce and Industry established 108 years ago. This chamber, with over 5,000 members, lays great emphasis on mentorship and student development. We would like to extend this programme to our Rwandan youth, and are therefore making this offer.
Should the KIM management and the concerned students be interested, they could get in touch with the undersigned and we would be very pleased to take this initiative further.
Please allow me to share with your esteemed readers that in the past, we invited an outstanding student from the then School of Finance and Banking (SFB) to attend IMC’s International Banking and Finance Conference and had also invited two outstanding nurses from the Rwamagana School of Nursing and Midwifery to undergo an advanced training and familiarisation programme at the world class Fortis Hospital and the Fortis Institute of Nursing.
We believe that such international exposure will not only broaden the horizons of Kwarikunda and Mbera immensely, but it would also give them the desired confidence in their quest for excellence.
