AS Muhanga are keen on bouncing back to topflight league after claiming a narrow 3-2 win over Esperance FC in a Pool B division two league game on match-day 9 at Muhanga stadium on Saturday.

The 2013 Peace Cup finalists, who were relegated to lower division last season, had a rough start in the second tier but they seem to have turned the corner and now have their eyes set on a quick return to National Football League.

The Muhanga district-sponsored side got their goals through attacking-midfielder Freddy Ngabo Mucyo who netted a brace and striker Innocent Nzabarinda while Esperance’s two goals came from Emmanuel Hitimana and Etienne Nkurunziza. The win moved AS Muhanga into fourth place with 16 points, five behind leaders Sorwathe who won 2-0 against Miroplast FC. Bugesera and Rwamagana are second and third respectively, two points off the pace, level on 19 but the former have afar superior goal of +23 against +4 for the latter.

In Pool A, leaders La Jeunesse bounce from mid-week 1-all draw with Gasabo to smash SEC Academy 3-0 at Kicukiro stadium to move to 20 points, four ahead of second-placed Nyagatare who drew 0-0 with Hope FC.
