Rwandan champions APR volleyball club overcame Al Nahda in the ongoing Africa Clubs Championship on Friday night. APR will now play against Support United of Zimbabwe for the 17th to 20th classification positions this evening.

Sammy Mulinge’s side thrashed their Sudanese counterparts 3-0 (25-23 25-20 25-14) in 50 minutes. Al Nahda will fight for the 21st to 24th positions. By press time, it was not clear who Al Nahda will face.

In other game on Saturday, FAP of Cameroon defeated Nemostar of Uganda 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-16) while KAVC (Uganda) crashed Daim Hamad (Sudan) 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, and 25-16).

APR’s next opponents Support United of Zimbabwe beat Atletico of Cape Verde 3-1 (14-25, 25-22, 25-19, and 25-16).

In the 9th to 16th classification games, Swehli (Libya) beat GSU (Kenya) 3-2 (25-17, 25-17, 20-25, 20-25, 15-11), Ahly Beni Ghazi (Libya) hit Autoridade Mozambique 3-2 (25-22, 25-18, 22-25, 23-25, 15-10), FAR of Morocco beat Espoir (DR Congo) 3 -1( 25-18 25-21 25-27 26-24), Prisons of Kenya won over Douanes of Burkina Faso 3-0 (25-19-25-16-25-13).

In the quarter-finals, Ahly beat Zamalek 3-2 (25-23, 25-16, and 27-29, 19-25, 17-15) in the famous Egyptian Derby to clinch the semi-final ticket.

Dark horses Somoha qualified to the semi-final in their first ever participation after they beat Ittihad Tangier 3-1 (25-8, 25-19, 23-25, 25-17).

Esperance of Tunisia qualified to last four for the third time in a row after they hammered Bourj Bouaririj of Algeria 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 28-26).

Etoile Sportive du Sahel (Tunisia) followed in the footsteps of their neighbors Esperance by trouncing Setif (Algeria) 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-14) to complete the final 4.
