NYARUGENGE - Hundreds of believers from different parts of Kigali and other areas Sunday convened at Camp Kigali for prayers dedicated to the success of the parliamentary elections starting today.

Pastor Eustache Karangwa, who opened the prayer event, reminded the congregation of how God has always heard their prayers in times such as these.

"In 2003, when it was approaching elections which even included presidential ones, we organized a massive prayer opportunity like this in the stadium. We prayed for good leaders and indeed God answered our prayers with a good president and other leaders who have taken the country forward,” the pastor said. 

Evangelist Sandrali Sebakara, the president of Rebuilding nations with Divine Principles and coordinator of the event said during an interview with The New Times, that it was organised to have a collective moment of prayer for the elections starting today.

"During times like these, we see it as necessary to mobilise ourselves and pray to God for our elections to be conducted peacefully and successfully and to seek for wisdom and good judgment so that we vote in good leaders for this country,” he explained.

From the Bible, he cited Ephesians Chapter 2 Verse 10, which states that God created us to do good works, and these works were prepared for us in advance.

The prayers which were organised by the Church of Rwanda and Kigali City Council (KCC) were attended by various leaders like the mayor of Kigali, church leaders from various churches around Kigali, and some of the contestants in the elections that are starting today.
