Alice Niyoyita scored four goals to help Kamonyi FC rout Bugesera 6-0 on match-day 8 in the national women football league on Thursday at Remera-Rukoma playground.

The 20-year old Rwanda international sensational striker is most remembered for scoring the lone goal as She-Amavubi beat Kenya in the first-leg first round of 2014 Africa Women Championships qualifier at Kigali Regional Stadium.

Dorothea Mukeshimana added a brace to complete a 6-0 humiliation of struggling Bugesera, who have only won one, drew one and lost six league matches this season.

The win moved Kamonyi into fourth place with 15 points, nine behind leaders and reigning champions AS Kigali, who maintained their perfect start to the season with a routine 5-1 away win to Nyagatare.

Kamonyi FC coach Emmanuel Habiyambere praised his team, particularly Niyoyita but also cautioned the team against complacency.

"Niyoyita is on top form and has been scoring almost in every match since start of the season, her presence in the team means a lot. However, we need to remain focused for the rest of the season,” Habiyambere said on Friday.

AS Kigali remain table leaders with 24 points, Les Lionnes are second with 20 while Atletico of Huye district are on third position, trailing leaders by eight points.

Kamonyi sign duo from AS Kigali

Meanwhile, Kamonyi FC, who finished second last season have signed the She-Amavubi duo of striker Sophia Niyomugaba and center-back Clémentine Mukamana from archrivals AS Kigali. The pair signed a two-year contract.
