Les Lionnes FC are keen to extend their unbeaten streak to eight matches this season when they play away to Rambura on match-day 8 in the national women football league this afternoon in Nyabihu District.

Huye-based Les Lionnes, in second place with 17 points, four behind leaders AS Kigali after seven rounds of matches, will also be looking to recover from last Saturday’s 1-all draw against Gicumbi-based Inyemera FC, according to head coach Innocent Harerimana.

Harerimana also revealed to Times Sport that his side had set a target of finishing in top four this season but things changed and now the major focus is challenging AS Kigali for the league title.

"Initially, our target was to come in the top four but with the way the season is progressing, we believe we can challenge for the league title as well. We have not lost a game yet and we intend to keep it this way as long as possible,” Harerimana said on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, reigning champions AS Kigali visit seventh-placed Nyagatare, fifth-placed host Bugesera, Golden Generation face sixth-placed Freedom of Gakenke district, Inyemera and third-placed Atletico square-off in Gicumbi district while Muhanga-based Youvia host Girls Academy.
